One week later

The oddly matched group of people traveling together eventually reached the neighbourhood of Star City. It had been a long travel, but also quite quiet. None of them were complaining, considering what they had been through back in Happy Harbour. So here they were, just trying to find somewhere to set camp for a couple of days. Naturally, Dick would try to see if he could find any tracks of Artemis, as that's where she said she was headed last time. He hoped she were alive, and he knew Wally would be really happy to see another familiar face as well. Jason,... he probably wouldn't care as much.

It was now a day since they reached Star City. They had set up camp on the outskirts of town since there seemed to be a wild crowd of survivors and people in the center. And especially Sam, didn't want to stay that close to other people. Now they were all split up. That seemed to be the one thing they could did without arguing or getting on eachothers nerves.

Brooke was going to the city center to get food along with Wally. Dick was going to see if he could find out more clues about Artemis, if she was still around. And even Roy. And while they did that the abnormal part of the group, meaning more obvious powers stayed at camp. Jason didn't need to be around other people with his temper, and Jackie seemed to be the one to keep him under control. Sam stayed with them as well since she got nervous around other people.


"Can't believe how crowded it is here," Brooke muttered to Wally as they were walking through the market place. She had to squeeze through some crowds. She wasn't exactly a fan of big crowds either, but she wasn't going to show that. She knew acting normal was the best way to go. Still, it was probably the biggest crowd since she had left her home town.


Artemis, very much alive, was sitting on top of the balcony from where she was staying. She'd had a rough night, but that wasn't gonna stop her from trying to find her sister. She was looking over the market place under her. She knew Roy had conncetions here. She'd been tracking those down, trying to find him first. Apperently, by the intel she got he had been seen with an Asian girl in Star City. It had to be Jade. So, she had stuck around and was just preparing herself for the day before she'd continue her search. She was so close, she knew it. She grabbed the railing before she jumped over and landed on the balcony below, she then flipped down onto the ground.

Her life had been pretty normal. She was still sane and she didn't have any special powers. She felt a little bad about leaving Dick back at the cave, but she knew he wanted her to go and she was sure he was fine. He was Robin, the Boy Wonder. A part of her worried about her other friends as well. Were they okay? Maybe Robin had found them? Or maybe they were dead?

The blonde knew her way around the market. She knew who had good prices on food, and whom to avoid. Not that she couldn't kick their ass, she totally could. But she didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to herself. She keept her bow with her. What she bought at the market place was mostly water or fruit. She would go hunting herself. Another good thing about Star City. But she wasn't all good. She knew what she could steal without anyone noticing. Jade had taught her a few good tricks whent hey were kids. She only did it from the crooks though. The marketmen that had way too high prices for food. Sure, she wanted to help, but in a world like this her survivor instincs had kicked in. That was all that mattered. Staying alive and finding her sister.

She was walking through the crowd and noticed her shoelace untied. Sighing she crouched down to tie it again, pulling up her socks. She bit her lip before she stood up but almost fell back when someone walked into her. That someone, had been Wally.

Jackie kinda hated staying back in camp, but then again, it was nice to take a break after all that walking. It was especially nice because she was just now feeling like herself again after allowing Brooke to kinda "copy" her immunity abilities. She had been feeling weak and Jackie really, really hated that feeling. Never again would she feel like that. Hopefully anyway.

The 14 year old also knew why she had stayed behind. She seemed to be the only person who could keep Jason calm. Why? She wasn't exactly sure, but he had been showing a more softer side to her and a part of her liked it. It was nice to see the human part underneath years of harsh survival and God knows what else he had done.

Yawning, she stood up and stretched her arms. "First time in Star?" she asked the two, just making smalltalk.


"Well, Star City has been one of the hot spots for mob bosses, gangsters, and evil villains for years. No wonder there's so many connections and survivors here. Don't even get me started on the Glades," Wally told her before he bumped into the blonde he'd been searching for. "Ah! Crap! I'm sor-" He then paused and got the biggest grin on his face. "Artemis!! We found you!"

"Wally!?" Artemis was kind of shocked to see him before she smiled and she hugged him. "You're okay!"

Brooke stopped and inspected the blonde haired girl with tanned skin that supposly were "Artemis". So this was Artemis? Wow, she sure was beautiful, and kinda badass looking in the same time.

Wally laughed as he hugged her back and actually lifted her off her feet for a second. "Yeah! You're okay, too!" He then let her go and just rested his hands on her arms. "Man, you are one hard cookie to find," he teased. "We came all the way from Happy Harbor to find you. Oh, wait, Artemis, this is Brooke. Brooke, this is Artemis."

"Hi," Brooke said, as awkward as she felt.

"Hey, and... we? Wait! Dick's here with you too?" Artemis realized and she smiled. "The rest of the team?"

"Well, no, Not exactly. Dick is here, and I don't know if you remember Jason all that much, but he's here, too. We've met some more friends along the way. You'll like them. I can take you to our camp?" Wally offered, just wanting her to meet everyone and catch up.

"That'd be great, but I have to keep looking for Jade," Artemis said.

Brooke remembered Jade from Jackie story. Oh no. She didn't know. Not good. She glanced at Wally, not sure how they would tell her.
